Makro Montague Gardens Carnival Day 2014

GICS was fortunate to be invited to attend the 2014 Makro Montague Gardens Carnival Day alongside the Cape Town Rifles (Dukes) of the SA Army Infantry Formation at the Annual Makro Montague Gardens Carnival Day on Saturday 25 October 2014.

  

The event was great fun with live music, competitions, kids rides, various displays as well as a host of other fun filled activities for the whole family.

  

GICS had a small display as well as an airsoft shooting range for old and young to enjoy. All proceeds generated by GICS on the day goto the Makro Education Trust.

Swartland Forces Advanced Handgun Proficiency Shoot

GICS was privileged to be invited to attend the Swartland Forces Advanced Handgun Proficiency Shoot hosted by and
organised by Dogs and All.

The aim of the event was to promote interaction and cohesion between the various government law enforcement institutions in the Swartland region.

  

The event was attended by members of Malmesbury SAPS, Malmesbury Traffic and Law Enforcement, Emergency Response Unit, Correctional Services, Malmesbury, Paarl Police College and a combined Dogs and All Team.

  

The day was a great success with the various teams competing against each other over various courses of fire. Some stages tested accuracy, some tested speed and others tested balance of speed and accuracy - a very difficult skill to master.

  

The ranges were run and kept safe by Range Officers Geoffrey Coetzee and Heinrich April.

Thank you also goes out to Druiwetros Bottlestore and Darling Cellars for sponsoring refreshments during and after the
event.

Great fun was had by all and the event most certainly succeeded in bringing the various institutions together. (As well as
some healthy competition between teams.)

A special thank you goes out to Geoffrey and the rest of the Dogs and All Team who made the day a great success.

Annual NSRI Melkbosstrand 4x4 Adventure Day

GICS was fortunate enough to have a small display and airsoft shooting range alongside the Cape Town Rifles (Dukes) of the SA Army Infantry Formation at the Annual NSRI Melkbosstrand 4x4 Adventure Day held at Koeberg Nature Reserve on Saturday 4 October 2014.

   

This popular event helps the NSRI to raise much needed funds as they are entirely dependent on public funding.

  

The NSRI Melkbosstrand 4x4 Adventure Day is a unique event because it’s the only time that members of the public are able to tour the reserve in their 4x4 vehicles. The 4x4 tour takes you on a four hour drive that takes in some of the most breathtaking views of the coast and Table Mountain. This is a very popular event with around 150 vehicles partaking.

  

All proceeds of this very popular event go toward meeting the operational cost the NSRI Rescue Station in Melkbosstrand. This rescue station is particularly busy during the summer months and helps to ensure that both locals and visitors alike have a safe holiday season. NSRI volunteers are not remunerated for the services they provide and sacrifice a huge amount of their personal time and comfort in order to provide a service to the community.

  

The Melkbosstrand NSRI Rescue Station is particularly close to GICS's heart as it has helped out a member of the GICS Team on more than one occasion in the past. All proceeds generated by GICS on the day are to be donated to the NSRI Rescue Station in Melkbosstrand.

Using Discount Vouchers on the GICS Website

We have put together a quick tutorial on how to use vouchers on the GICS Website.

From time to time we will offer specials and promotions where you will receive or be given a Voucher Code to enter on the GICS Website in order to benefit from a promotion or receive a discount on a purchase(s).

The process is simple, just follow these steps.

1. Login and Start Browsing

GICS Visit to SA Armour School and Museum in Bloemfontein

On our way back to Cape Town after the AAD 2014 Show, we once again decided to "quickly" stop at the SANDF School of Armour and Armour Museum at Tempe Military base in Bloemfontein.

  

All the Armour Corps including 1SA Tank Regiment and 1SSB Special Service Battalion are trained there. All SANDF armour units must run through the School of Armour.

We viewed a number of vehicles from Restored Bedford Trucks to Sherman Tanks, Crusaders, Anti-Aircraft Guns and the in the captured weapons collection: A working T-34/85 Russian Battle Tank, T-72, BMP-1’s and many others.

  

Other vehicles on display included Ferret Scout Cars, Ratels, the currently in service Rooikat Armoured Vehicle aswell as the Olifant Main Battle Tank.

The indoor museum displays numerous aspects of SA armour dating back to the early 1900's.

We were very fortunate to be given a hands on demonstration of the current Rooikat Armoured Car on the test course. We were amazed how well the vehicle handled the course, the steap inclines in particular.

  

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend that you visit the Armour Museum the next time you are in Bloemfontein. It is well worth the visit.

We would like to thank WO 1 Marais and Lt Col Hohls for their time during our visit. Their love and passion for all things armour shines through and we thank them for preserving these amazing pieces of history.

MDT Rifle Chassis' allow you to turn your standard bolt action rifle into a customizable tactical rifle that is compatible with many AR-15 parts!

The MDT TAC21 and LSS Chassis Systems fit various models of rifles including Remington 700, Savage and Tikka 3 Short and Long Action rifles. Chassis' for Howa rifles will be available late 2014/early 2015!

The drop-in chassis system allows you to add tactical components and accessories according to your requirements. Both the TAC21 and LSS chassis' allows you to add AR-15 butt-stocks and pistol grips as well as a bipod and optional accessory rails for accessories such as flashlights and lasers.
