GICS Year End Open Day on 14 December 2013

GICS is pleased to announce and invite all our customers, friends and family to our annual Year End Open Day that will be held at GICS in Montague Gardens on Saturday 14 December 2013.

  

Come and join us for a day filled with great specials, airsoft pistol and rifle shooting competitions, boerewors rolls and Muay Thai fights and demonstrations brought to you by Dragon Power and Sifu Quentin Chong!



Dragon Power will be hosting three junior fights during the course of the day. The first fight is scheduled to start at 10:00 and entry is free! 



There will be a free Dragon Power demonstration hosted by Sifu Quentin Chong after the three fights. Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend at no cost.

We will have a timed airsoft pistol shooting competition upstairs as well as a downstairs "kill house" course which will be run by DEFCON Airsoft Team.

The 3 tops shooters for both courses of fire will win prizes.

The airsoft shooting ranges will be open from 10:00 to 13:00.

Upstairs Pistol Shoot:

R20.00 per round.
GICS will provide pistols, gas and BB’s.
GICS pistols must be used.
Enter as many times as you like.

Downstairs "Kill House" Rifle Shoot:

2013 SA IDPA DMG Nationals Debrief

GICS as fortunate to be present at and sponsor prizes at the first ever South African IDPA DMG Nationals held at False Bay Sports Shooting Club (FBSSC) from 21 - 24 November 2013.

  

If you are not familiar with it, International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) Shooting is the use of practical, every day carry equipment to solve simulated “real world” self-defense scenarios using practical handguns that are suitable for self-defense use. The main goal is to test the skill and ability of an individual, measuring a balance between speed and accuracy while promoting safe and responsible firearm handling and ownership.

  

IDPA membership and matches are open to all people who can legally own a handgun, regardless of occupation, race, gender or religion. IDPA members come from all walks of life and represent all skill levels within the shooting sports.

IDPA is the fastest growing shooting sport in South Africa and is governed locally by SADPA. (South African Defensive Pistol Association.)

Defensive Multi-Gun (DMG) is an offshoot of IDPA Shooting that incorporates the use of handguns, shotguns and rifles within the framework and ethos of IDPA. While DMG is still very much in it's infancy, it has and continues to grow in popularity in South Africa and already has a large following.

Competitors from around the country competed in various classes and divisions over 4 days. Overall, the event was a great success, setting the stage for future DMG National competitions.
