GICS is very proud to announce that we will be launching a range of training courses aimed at members of the public, corporates, security companies and law enforcement. 

We will be running the first set of courses on the weekend of 26 and 27 May 2012:

Introduction to Edged Weapons - 27/05/2012

Courses will be facilitated by Dean Nieuwoudt. Dean has served in the SANDF, SAPS and Durban Metro Police, both as an instructor and on an operational level including drug enforcement, special projects, intervention unit, CPO, child protection and other duties. 

Dean has a long list of local and international experience and qualifications behind his name, including but not limited to: Registered Assessor and Moderator, Metro Police Instructor, SAPS Weapons (SWAT) Instructor, Crowd Management Instructor, ASP Baton and Handcuffing Instructor, First Aid Instructor, Basic and Intermediate Life Support Medic, Glock Armourer and Close Protection Officer. Dean is also an active 3 gun shotist and has a particular passion for edged and impact weapons.

Besides being highly qualified, Dean has a true passion for training. You only need to spend a few minutes in his presence talking about training to realise this and it is for this reason that we have decided to synergise with Dean to offer not only relevant but practical training.

We are very excited about the courses and look forward to offering more courses in future.

GICS visits the SA Armour Museum in Bloemfontein!

On the way back to Cape Town after the HuntEx 2012 Show, the GICS HuntEx 2012 Team decided to "quickly" stop at the SA Armour Museum at the Tempe Military base in Bloemfontein.

 

 

 

We left 3 hours later, but it was time very well spent.

There are several armoured vehicles on display from Russian built T34's to US built Sherman's and British Crusaders.

 

 

The indoor museum displays numerous aspects of SA armour dating back to the early 1900's.

We were fortunate enough to be given a hands on demonstration of the current Rooikat Mk 1D Armoured Car and as well as the currently in service Olifant tank.

 

 

 

There is a lot to see and we were sorry to have to leave as we had a long way to travel and could have easily spent several more hours there. (We arrived back in Cape Town at 02:00 hours as a result of the "quick" detour.)

 

We definitely suggest that you visit the museum if you are ever in the Bloefontein area.

HuntEx 2012 Debrief

After a VERY long 8 days and what felt like an even longer drive back after getting "distracted" at the SA Armour Museum in Bloemfontein, the GICS HuntEx 2012 Team finally arrived back in Cape Town just before 02:00 on Wednesday 25/04/2012 after a very successful show.

 

We would like to thank all of those who made a special effort to come through and introduce themselves to us. It was great to put a face to the names and voices that we deal with on a regular basis.

We also met and made a lot of new friends and contacts and we look forward to working with them in future.

 

On a slightly negative, yet positive note, although our stand this year was 3 times the size it was last year, we did not expect the traffic and interest that we received from the public this year and as a result, the stand turned out to be too small and there was congestion at times.

We apologise for this and it has already been addressed and next year will be both bigger and better!

 

A very big thank you goes out to the HuntEx Organisers who once again provided a wonderful platform for us and all the other exhibitors to display their product ranges to the public.

We hope to see you all there again next year!

End of April Trading Times

The end of April long weekend is coming up and GICS will be open for the following trading times:

Friday 27^th of April 2012 – Closed

Saturday 28^th of April 2012 – Open for normal Saturday Trading hours (09:00 – 14:00)

Sunday 29^th of April 2012 – Closed

Monday 30^th of April 2012 – Closed

Tuesday 1^st of May 2012 – Closed

From Wednesday the 2^nd of May we will resume normal trading hours (09:00 – 17:00 weekdays & 09:00 – 14:00 on Saturdays).

Final Invitation to Visit GICS at HuntEx 2012

The GICS Team would like to extend a final invitation and reminder to all our customers to join us at the HuntEx 2012 Show on 20 - 22 April 2012 in Hall 2, Stand 50 at Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand, Gauteng. (Hall 2, Stand 50 is 1 Row to the right of where we were last year.)  

If you were not at last years show, we highly recomend it.
 
We look forward to meeting many of the customer's that we have got to know over the years, but have not yet had the privelege of meeting in person.
